How we built an AR experience that lets homeowners place photorealistic kitchen configurations in their own space using only a smartphone.
The average kitchen showroom costs £1.2M to fit out and reaches a fraction of the potential buyers a brand could be engaging. When an ultra-premium kitchen manufacturer approached us with the question "what if every homeowner could walk into our showroom from their phone?", we knew exactly what to build.
The AR Experience
Using Apple ARKit and a custom-built WebAR pipeline, homeowners scan their kitchen floor with their phone camera. Our system detects walls, windows, and floor area, then populates the space with a photorealistic 1:1 scale kitchen — complete with correct lighting reflections responding to the room's ambient light.
The Results After 60 Days
- 18,000+ unique AR sessions from a QR code on direct mail and magazine ads.
- Average session duration of 4.2 minutes — versus 45 seconds for standard product pages.
- 340 % increase in showroom booking conversions from users who had completed an AR session.
- Sales conversion rate 2.8× higher for AR-engaged leads versus standard web leads.
"The ROI was immediate and overwhelming. AR is now our primary acquisition channel for high-value clients." — Head of Marketing, Premium Kitchen Brand
What We Learned
The single biggest insight: buyers do not want to imagine. They want to see. Once they can see their own kitchen replaced with a photorealistic dream version in real time on their phone, the purchase conversation moves from "maybe" to "which configuration?" — and average order values increase significantly.
